Infrared Sauna Detoxification

Sauna Detoxification

Modern day humans carry within their bodies a chemical cocktail made up of industrial chemicals, pesticides, food additives, heavy metals, as well as toxins from alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, and pharmaceutical drugs.

Far Infrared Saunas are being used by some doctors to stimulate the release of toxins from the bodies of their patients. They have found that a lower temperature (105-130 F) sauna taken for a longer duration is most beneficial. These low temperatures stimulate a fat sweat, which eliminates toxins stored in fat, as opposed to the high temperature sauna (over 180 F), which encourages a water sweat.

Far Infrared Sauna vs. Conventional Sauna

A study analyzing the chemical composition of sweat found that the sweat of participants using the box of hot rocks sauna had 95-97% water, while the sweat of those using an infrared sauna was 80-85% water--the rest being composed of cholesterol, fat-soluble toxins, heavy metals (such as mercury and cadmium), sulfuric acid, ammonia, sodium, and uric acid.

Detoxification therapy is also useful for those suffering from immune system problems that include chronic fatigue syndrome, environmental illness/multiple chemical sensitivity, and fibromyalgia.

Far Infrared Sauna detoxifaction protocol:

Before your infrared sauna detoxification session:

Far Infrared saunas are safe enough to use every day, but it is important to hydrate your body. Drink water before during, and after your sauna session. Limit your time in the sauna: we recommend no more than 40 minutes at one time. Remember your body is trying to cleanse itself of all the built up toxins, you don't want to over due it.

It is best to rinse before your infrared sauna session so as to clean any lotions or creams that are clogging up your pores, this will facilitate the removal of toxins when you are sweating in the sauna. One of Blue's favorite therapues is dry brushing. This will help increase skin circulation, try this before or after your sauna session.

Some may find that they have a hard time sweating when in the sauna, this could be a result of heavy metal and toxic chemical overload in the body. Follow these tips:

Take a hot bath or shower to faciliate sweating during your sauna session. Exercise oygenates your cells and increases your body temperature.  Exercise before a sauna session will help produce sweat. With regular saunas session, you will find it much easier to sweat. This is because consitent sauna wil make your body more efficient, helping the body fine tune its cleaning mechanism and aiding in prespiration which helps move toxins out of your body.

Setting the sauna temperature

First of all, once the sauna reaches the temperature set by the user, the heaters will not work at full capacity because they will cycle on and off once they reach their set temperature. We recommend that you start using the sauna before it reaches the set temperature in order for you to get the most infrared benefits and to maximize the output of the heaters.

If you set the sauna to 130(an ideal setting), then you should start using it around 115 or 120 while the heaters at full capacity, you will sweat more this way. Another option is to set the sauna to maximum temperature setting of 140 which will make the heaters operate at full capacity most of the time, you may not reach 140F during your sauna session but that is not important, getting the most infrared benefits is more important.

During your infrared sauna detoxification session:
Lay a towel over the bench, while this isn't necessary it will help soak up your sweat and make your sauna session more comfortable.

Drink plenty of water, avoid sugary drinks and caffeine.

Relax. Your body will experience a passive cardiovacular conditioning effect while sweating in the sauna, so you will be getting a mini workout and burning calories. Since the sauna is heating your tissues this will help increase the flexibility in your body, try some simple stretches during your sauna sessions. tHere are some of our favorite tools while in the sauna: yoga toes for foot problems or the acu-masseur for neck and shoulder problems. You can get some helpful ideas for stretches from Blue's flextasy flexibility routine.

Infrared Sauna Heavy Metals Detoxification:

Whether we know it or not, we are exposed to heavy metals on an almost daily basis, and left undisturbed, these heavy metals can cause illnesses, even leading to death. One of the most common ways we can be exposed to heavy metal toxicity is through the silver amalgam fillings and other dental agents used in our mouths. We are commonly exposed to heavy metals like cadmium, lead, and mercury through pollution and just as a matter of modern life.

Heavy metal detox is important for overall health on a regular basis. Heavy metals can destroy proteins and other important substances our bodies need for best function. Many of these substances are cell receptors, hormones, or enzymes.

Sauna Therapy can be very effective in detoxing from heavy metals. Use Sauna detoxifcation along with certain supplements to help bind the metals out of your body.

Sulfur is an important heavy metal detox substance, because mercury binds to it, and it can then be excreted from the body. You can get sulfur in foods like garlic and onions; you can also take sulfur amino acids like cysteine, taurine, or methionine; however, it's important to talk to a naturopathic health care practitioner before you do this, because these will need to be administered properly.

Glutathione is another amino acid that can help with heavy-metal detox, because lead will bind to it in the bile, where it is then excreted from the body harmlessly.

Other supplements like milk thistle can also help with heavy-metal detox because it provides support to the liver. It also helps the liver make more of its own glutathione, which further protects it and helps with detox.

Chlorella has a fibrous outer shell that binds with the heavy metals in the bloodstream and assists in pulling them out of tissues. Chlorella has a cellular structure has three layers with an extremely think middle layer. This layer enables it to carry toxins out of the body directly, thus giving chlorella a unique detoxification ability.

It's also important with a heavy metal detox to maintain a proper diet. That's because the digestive system has to work properly in order for these detoxifying elements to do what they should as well. Therefore, eating a proper diet, avoiding overuse of antibiotics, and mitigating stressful factors in your life are going to go a long way toward helping your body detoxify itself on a regular basis.

After your infrared sauna detoxification session:

Although you are sweating out toxins during your sauna treatment, you are also sweating out some of the healthy minerals in your body. Drink coconut water or add himalayan salt or sea salt to your water to restore your body's electrolytes. Electrolytes consist of important minerals, which can include sodium, potassium, calcium, all which help balance fluid levels in your body, as well as regulate your nerve and muscle activity. Foods rich in potassium are kale, bananas, and aovcadoes. Magnesium is an electrolyte that works to promote cellular health and acts as a transport vehicle for other electrolytes, such as potassium and calcium. Natural sources of magnesium include nuts, pumpkin seeds and spinach. Calcium is essential for a properly working nervous system. Calcium is vital in neurotransmitter release and helps nerves in your brain communicate with one another. Other calcium-rich food sources include spinach, oranges, leafy green vegetables and whole grains.

Infrared Sauana and cleansing effects of the body:

Exercise caution when starting out with sauna therapy. If you're highly toxic, you could go through feelings of illness as you detoxify. When a drug addict does sauna detox for instance, they often feel the effects of the drug for a short period because of the process of sweating out the drug. When experiencing detox side effects it can be a little unpleasant for some but not everyone feels these negative effects although everyone who successfully detoxifies does feel the benefits.

Keeping your infrared sauna clean:
Use the air ionizer that is included in our saunas and avoid chemical cleaners.

How does the air ionizer work?
O3: emits O3 to kill Bactria in the air. When you turn this on, it will change automatically into Ion after 15 minutes. We recommend this setting before and after using the sauna.

Ion: this setting traps and kill Bactria inside the ionizer, we recommend using this setting while using the sauna.

Our saunas our kiln dried an thefore are not treated with toxic chemical. The inside of our saunas are unfinished to prevent off gassing. Make sure to avoid toxic chemical cleaners, you can keep your sauna clean by using a damp cloth to wipe of the sweat. Place a towel on the bench to soak up any excess sweat during you sauna detox treatment. If sweat stains develop over time in your sauna, you can sand down the area gently to remove the stains.
